It was around a holiday table, in the winter of 2001, that two cousins, Peter Leonard and Dr. Dave DeProspero, began discussing the unusual occurrences of their childhood, in the old family home. It was a few years since the family had left the house, yet the house had always remained with them. The dark, lurking secrets that the house held, also held captive the memories and thoughts of two men who had endured so many strange circumstances. It begged to be discussed.
Out of that conversation came the offhand comment that it would be wonderful if the cousins could start a group to help people who had similar occurrences in their own homes. A type of organized response team for people at their whit’s end, who had nobody else to turn to; Much like the situation when the cousins were children in the old family home. It was at nearly that exact moment that the Rome Investigators of the Paranormal was formed.
Keep in mind, this was a time before the television shows, and before the Hollywood preoccupation with the paranormal. This was a time when the paranormal was not cool, trendy, or accepted. Much criticism was faced in those early days, and the team saw much turmoil as it strove to achieve its goal of helping people who felt victimized by the paranormal.
Fast forward almost 15 years and Pete & Dave, along with their entire team, are still going strong throughout the Northeast. Recognized figures in the paranormal genre, Pete & Dave (now known as the Paranormal Cousins) are regular speakers and guests at numerous annual conventions, and are familiar lecturers alongside the likes of John Zaffis (Haunted Collector, SyFy), Jason, Grant, Britt, and the rest of the Ghost Hunters (Ghost Hunters, SyFy), and countless other easily recognized paranormal figures from television and the movies.
It has been a very interesting road, and the Rome Investigators of the Paranormal could not have risen without the help of its dedicated team, and the tireless help and support of fans and followers.
The team still accepts all requests for help and assistance, and goes on nearly 50 home cases per year, in addition to a full schedule of lectures, presentations, public investigations, historical fundraisers, and so much more.
